Diana Newson

Diana’s culinary career began by catering small yoga retreats on Vancouver Island which led her to take up studies with Meghan Teppner at the Academy of Culinary Nutrition. She became acutely aware of the importance of the work she was doing and as her passion grew she applied at the Northwest Culinary Academy of Vancouver where she spent two winters studying Culinary Arts and the Art of bread and pastries.

 

Diana has worked in adventure tourism cooking and sailing onboard the SV Passing Cloud as well as catering at places like Cedar Coast Field Station. These unique kitchen experiences and her background in event management have instilled in her an enthusiasm for working in remote off grid locations and uniquely qualifies her for creating memorable moments for you and your loved ones. Growing up on the BC Coast a Fishermans daughter Diana has always had a great respect for local sustainable ingredients. She loves to forage her own food and is passionate about supporting local farms, fishers and artisans. 

Mathieu Forand

Originally from rural Quebec, Mathieu spent his schooling years in Ontario before taking the long way through South Eastern Asia to finally land on Vancouver Island. Inspired by the bounty of produce, meat, and seafood, as well as the infectious gourmand enthusiasm of the place, Mathieu spends most of his time happily puttering in the kitchen. He loves a good condiment almost as much as he loves sharing a meal with friends and family.

 

After a few memorable stints cooking for guests on the Passing Cloud, and at the Cedar Coast Lodge on Vargas Island off the West Coast of Vancouver Island, he couldn’t help but be available to do more of the same. Quirky and uniquely challenging kitchens are some of his favourite places to cook. These adventures, as well as relationships made along the way, have led to garnishing tables for yoga retreats and all manner of celebrations.

 

Working with clients to create menus which cater to their tastes while introducing new flavours and dishes is a pleasure for Mathieu. Lively gatherings and intimate moments around a table are some of life’s great beauties according to Mathieu and he feels so honoured to be a part of your moments.
